Art Connects New York came and went without hearing much on it. We love art at GOSH!ABOUT, and it would have been lovely to see and hear more about their amazing works.
On June 14th, at CHRISTIE’S (Rockefeller Plaza), Art Connects New York’s 3rd Annual Spring Benefit with a preview of their upcoming art exhibition for the Foundation Center, before it was permanently installed this summer. This is the 39th curated installation of contemporary art created for social service agencies – free of charge. The event raised more than $52,000. 00 doubling their revenue.
Opening the event, a warm welcome by Cathy Elkies, Global Managing Director of 20/21ST Century Art & Design of Christie’s; whose been a generous sponsor of this and other charity organizations.
Next, a short introduction by David Bloom, Chairman of the Board of Art Connects New York. David has his own firm that specializes in human resources with a focus on talent management.
Among noted attendees, Elizabeth Bradley, Director of Business Development, Marketing, and Communications of Foundation Center, was proud of the strong relationship between Art Connects and the Foundation Center; Stuart Anthony, Executive Director of Art Connects New York. And, Peter Gynd, an Independent Curator and a Director of Lesley Heller Workspace, recently joined Art Connects New York, was happy to help the organization in a great way. He helped curate the “Activating Spaces / Building Ideas”.
ABOUT ART CONNECTS NEW YORK
Art Connects New York is a charitable organization that, with the help of donors, connects artists and curators with social service agencies in New York City to create museum-quality permanent exhibitions of contemporary artwork.
Jamie Johnson is the founder of Art Connects New York.
Since its inception in 2006, Art Connects New York has organized 34 free of charge permanent exhibitions in the five boroughs of New York.
The organization with its programs and resources helps enrich the lives of over 125,000 of their partner agencies’ constituents each year, and reflect the commitment of nearly 500 New York City artists who have generously donated their work.
