This event comes with such a deep and amazing story of struggle, tragedy  and the will to win and make a change. I attended the Discover Many Hopes Annual Gala at the newly renovated 180 Maiden Lane in NYC on May 23, 2016.

Over 500 attendees came out to show support, among were notable attendees such as: Discover Many Hopes Co-Founder Thomas Keown, and co-chair on the committee and photographer of the event, Patrick McMullan; Empire Actor Malik Yoba, Gossip Girl Actress –Alice Callahan, NY Knicks Player Lance Thomas plus, Artist  Bradley Theodore.

Hosted by Actor and Tony Award Nominee Zachary Levi, and Fitness and Wellness Entrepreneur  Tracy Anderson, Film Producer and Director-  Jeff Oppenheim, and an Executive Producer of The Global Citizen Festival in Central Park-  Jeffrey Zarnow,

Previous celebrity supporters include: Karen Elson, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Stam, Leighton Meester and AnnaLynne McCord.

Many Hopes is a non-profit organization that rescues children from poverty, corruption and abuse in Kenya, then advocates for them in court and educates them to build future networks of leaders and influencers who will break the cycle of injustice. Monday night’s event brought together 500 influencers to build a school for 900 children in Kenya – 100% of the proceeds will go toward the construction.

Many Hopes rescues girls and boys from abusive situations and provides them with loving homes and excellent education, as well as legal advocacy. Many Hopes believes that local children will solve the problems and defeat the injustices that charity alone cannot. We believe that nobody cares more about justice than those who have suffered injustice. And they can – if we stand with them now,” said Thomas Keown.

The organization was founded in 2007 by Thomas Keown and Kenyan Journalist, Anthony Mulongo. Moved by the brutality, abuse and exploitation of children in Kenya – Mulongo took in a 6-year-old girl named Gift, whose mother had just died of AIDS and 10-month-old brother had died on her back while she was begging for food on the streets of Mombasa.

Keown wrote a newspaper article about his experience in Kenya, resulting in an outpour of letters from supporters, volunteers and donors. Many Hopes was founded shortly thereafter.

Many Hopes does not want this learning experience to be a ‘charity school’ so to speak, but a school that  will educate children out of  poverty.
After Many Hopes complete this project, they will create the Young Justice Center by 2017 to help children from abuse. The funds raised will provide a team of child rights lawyers and researchers  to help advance the well-being of children through the law.
