The intent to do something great for a cause you believe in, will carry you for thousands of miles, because of the positivity surrounding that intention. This was felt for STAND FOR EDUCATION.

On Wednesday May 25, 2016, my team and I, attended the Kota Sustainable Style Fashion Awards and Stand For Education at The Garage 611, NYC which celebrated fashion design students and established designers, showcasing their vision and style of sustainable fashions.

Kenneth Cole donated the venue The Garage 611 for these designers to present evening wear made from re-purposed and donated textiles. Tituss Burgess of (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) emceed the event alongside Tony Award nominee, dancer Karine Plantadit. A celebrity judging panel, which included model Millen Magese,  awarded prizes sponsored by EILEEN FISHER and GUDRUN SJODEN to the top three designers.

Founder, Mari Malek, of STAND FOR EDUCATION, spoke on her foundation, and was honoured and acknowledged for the work she has done for young girls.

I must give it to the DJ of the event, Henrik Tala, for setting the mood of the event and fashion show. His selection of music was on point. Check out his setlist below.
