Can we say Fiyah! We are highlighting only what made a presence to us…
So thrilled to experience this years Billboard 2016 Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday May 22, 2016 which was hosted musicians Ludacris and Ciara, who both did a cool job of moving the awards in a nice flow.
The performances tonight was FANTASTIC. I must jump in and start with Celine Dion who came out with such power and presence and her voice, so incredible. This was her first performance since the death of her husband René Angélil. She sang the cover of Queen’s song “The Show Must Go On” which had great significance to her with her husband not here she must continue the journey. Presenting her with the Billboard Icon Award was her son Rene. Such an emotional moment that took her by surprised.
Adele dropped her amazing new hot single Send My Love(To Your New Lover) with a video. A portrait style of just her and the many expressions of her through the music. Visually brilliant. Simple and perfectly done. Her makeup, hair and dress was superb! and she walked away with an award tonight as well. Watch it here:
Rihanna rocked the house with her single Love On The Brain from her new album ANTI . The girl can blow and you felt every emotion in that song that she received a standing ovation for that performance. Rihanna killed it.
What was truly amazing was to finally see and hear KESHA. With all the back and forth of court and being told where and when she can sing by this crazy doctor. No one was sure if she was going to be “allowed” to attend and perform her tribute to Bob Dylan with her song “It Aint Me Babe“. You can see she has been through alot. You can see the saddness in her eyes, yet the fight, will-power and determination to win this and win forward. We are rooting for you Kesha! One of her biggest supporter, Lady Gaga had to tweet about this earlier in the week , on the incredible nonsense and slavery mentality the music industry and some doctor have over and artists talent- their voice. Such control must STOP!
The night closed out with a Tribute Prince Roger Nelson with QuestLove introducing Madonna who performed 2 songs ” Nothing Compares To U” and “Purple Rain with Stevie Wonder. It was a short tribute compared to other tributes of past artists in my opinion. Prince was revolutionary and I think command much more than just Madonna and Stevie Wonder. Hello?? Like where is Shelia E.? Lenny Kravits? or even Chaka Khan?
