WOW!!! A brilliant way to incorporate pleasure and a great cause into one wheeling event which brings so many together to support. On Saturday, April 16th at the CITY WINERY on 155 Varick St in NYC, organization Wheeling Forward held their Wine On Wheels wine tasting event to a packed house.  We were greeted by staff with glass in hand.

Wine On Wheels featured over 200 wines from leading importers and wineries which were poured by a distinguished panel of 60 sommeliers.   Among wine tasting, many interesting seminars were taken place, such as the Breakfast in Burgundy Wine Seminar with expert Daniel Johnnes, the Fortified Wines of Languedoc-Roussillon with Jamal Rayyis of Sud de France and Chocolates from Jean Francois Bonnet of Tumbador Chocolate, plus Blind Tasting with Dana Gaiser and Morgan Harris from Esquire Network’s Uncorked.

A Silent Auction was held featuring thirteen (13) items. Among such items were :

  • A magical trip for two(2) people to visit the Vineyards of Southern France for 5 nights with airfare and accommodations
  • Dining at the superlative Union Square Restaurant Pack at the following locations: Union Square Cafe, Marta, Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, The Modern and North End Grill.
  • A two(2) night stay at Loews Regency New York with dinner and cool perks included
  • A private tasting seminar with Yannick Benjamin – co founder of Wheeling Forward and a wine sommelier

One hundred percent (100%) of the proceeds from Wine on Wheels benefits Wheeling Forward, a nonprofit that helps people with disabilities live life to the fullest. Wheeling Forward works with individuals to provide the advocacy, mentorship and support services they need to reach their goals, no matter how big or small. Learn more at www.wheelingforward.org

Their spinal mobility program is an an innovative exercise program with accessible equipment with your peer and each participant gets an individual exercise plan. Also, they have a wheelchair pit stop where one can get their wheelchair cleaned and any minor adjustments and they donate an average of 50 wheelchairs a year.
