This year is truly about strong, powerful women and BCAGlobal is placing the spotlight on such women.
On Friday, April 8th, 2016, BCAGlobal’s 12th Annual Global Food & Wine Experience will take place at the Espace, 635 West 42nd Street in New York, NY from 7 PM to 10:30 PM.
Guests will enjoy culinary samples paired with wine from select restaurants, winemakers, distributors and outlets from around the world. More than 50 culinary students will partner with premier industry professionals to unveil the latest trends in food and wine.
BCAGlobal’s mission and the spirit behind this event is “Building diversity in the culinary and hospitality industries.”
BCAGlobal will honour strong women in the culinary field. Their Vision in Wine Award honoree is Selena Cuffe, founder of Heritage Link Brands, the largest importer of wines made by indigenous Africans. Presenting the Vision in Wine Award is Judia Black, Sommelier & CEO of enJoie, a lifestyle, media and events company.
” Judia’s creative, entrepreneurial flair, her experience as a sommelier, and her leadership in the African-American community are admirable qualities that we at BCAGlobal believe will inspire our professional and student members. As an identified friend, associate, supporter, colleague of Judia’s, we hope you will join Judia in celebrating Selena Cuffe’s receipt of the Wine in Spirit Award for her important work with the indigenous vintners of the African continent.”
Selena Cuffe holds an MBA with honors from Harvard University, and prior to founding Heritage Link Brands in 2005, worked for Proctor & Gamble and the Council on International Education Exchange. In 2009, she was featured in Black Enterprise Magazine as “Next Entrepreneur of the Year.”.
The BCAGLOBAL is a nationwide non-profit, educational and networking organization of hospitality and food service professionals. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 1998, our mission is to create exposure and provide educational and professional opportunities for culinary and hospitality professionals of color. We accomplish this objective by providing quality educational and employment resources, job coaching, mentoring and assistance with placement, and networking support. Additionally, the BCA exposes inner-city high school students to the culinary arts through a series of workshops that serve to introduce culinary arts as a viable career option.
