Aren’t they beautiful?

But the outside may look fantastic, but the inside is what we really need to be concern with. Besides doing self-exams or having mammograms, we gotta look at what we are filling up our bodies with. Yes, the ultimate FOOD!

Food, in Ayurveda, is medicine. Its the vital force to keeping any body healthy. Food is any substance consumed to provide nutritional support for the body. Food contains the essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins or minerals.

Prevention is key to staying healthy, but as many are diagnosed with breast cancer, we also have to look at how to heal and prevent from reoccurring.

What type of diet should I have?

According to my research, and working with many clients, I suggest the following

As according to Alandiashram.org,

Cancer is a tridoshic disturbance (involving Vata, Pitta, Kapha doshas), therefore, it is not usually helpful to follow a specific diet for one dosha. Instead, a general Ayurvedic diet should be followed. Extremes of pungent, bitter, salty, sweet, or sour food, leftovers, fried food, and cold food and drink should be avoided. Proper food combining should be practiced, and there should be three to five hours between meals or snacks. Khichari, a combination of basmati rice and mung dal, is an ideal staple, since it cleanses all three doshas and nourishes all seven dhatus. During chemotherapy or radiation treatments, a very strict pitta-pacifying diet should be followed, since both these treatments are extremely provoking to pitta.

Working with Herbs, I think is so crucial to healing the body. Implementing herbs into your daily diet brings out the best results possible, especially in breast cancer.

Please note before I go forward, these are suggestions only, and not a prescription or diagnosis. You must consult your doctor to seek what is best for you, your body type and your condition. I am not a MD- medical doctor. I am a practitioner of Ayurveda. I am writing this article to bring awareness and for you to further do your personal research.

As I have seen the following processes done and have seen the results its have on many cancer survivors, that I am happy Alandiashram.org wrote the following:

The single most important herb in the Ayurvedic treatment of breast cancer is kutki. Due to its lekhan-bedhan (scraping and breaking down) effects, it tends to break down and scrape away malignant deposits, whilst due to its prabhav (specific action) of flushing hepatic parenchyme, it removes micro-deposits of cancer from the liver. Indeed, kutki is said to destroy liver metastasis even in the most advanced cases. I have seen some remarkable cases of remission in advanced breast cancer with hepatic secondaries, following the administration of kutki.

Stanya shodhan herbs are combined in balanced formulas with herbs specifically helpful in the treatment of malignant diseases or other tridoshic disturbances. Interestingly, some of these latter herbs are common kitchen spices. The Four Fragrances, for example, contains cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum), cinnamon (Cinnamonum zeylaticum), bay (Laurus nobilis), and nagkeshar (Mesua ferrea). This combination, used in small quantities, effects tridoshic balance. Saffron (Crocus sativa) is another important herb for tridoshic balance, and when added to a formula in very small quantities, saffron promotes the effective action of the other herbs.

The other very important Ayurvedic medicine for cancer and all tridoshic disturbances is Diamond bhasma, a special medicinal ash prepared from powdered diamonds. This is an extremely complex process, involving heating the diamond powder to very high temperatures, then dipping it in rosewater. After repeating this process numerous times, the resulting diamond paste is fired in a kiln fourteen times, ground in aloe vera and then fired and ground repeatedly until the resulting ash is fine enough to float on water and to disappear into the creases on the palm of your hand. The resulting bhasma is taken in quantities of one grain twice daily, and is said to have a rapid effect in eliminating cancerous cells.

Many of these herbs are in your kitchen already. Learn how to use them from a professional.

I also believe removing meat from your diet, even temporarily, does wonders to healing and restoring the body. Implementing as many organic herbs, foods, nuts, vegetables, fruits and water. Coconut water is also great to hydrating the system as well.

Having a Pitta-Passive Diet will help heal and counteract the effects of chemo as well as maintain balance in the body. Sometimes the easiest and best way to get all your food and nutrients is to Juice them. Invest in a juicer today and we will get into more diet blends next post!
