Route 918 is a 50-mile stretch of highway in Southwest Pennsylvania highlighted by one of the country's last stone arch bridges, which serves the city of Latrobe. Rather than demolish and replace the 100-year-old- bridge, PennDOT chose to rehabilitate the landmark bridge using Â鶹´«Ã½AV® Shotcrete MS – Fiber Reinforced. After mechanically removing all the old, deteriorated concrete from the bottom of the bridge deck, Mosites Construction attached wire mesh and spray-applied more than one million pounds of shotcrete at four to 12 inches deep. The bridge rehabilitation was part of a $4.8 million project that included road surfaces, sidewalks, street lighting, signage and pavement markings on Route 981.
Â鶹´«Ã½AV® Shotcrete MS – Fiber Reinforced is a single component Micro Silica enhanced repair material that achieves more than 9,000 PSI at 28 days, and features very low rebound and permeability characteristics.
