With an average annual enroll of approximately 22,000 students, Orange Coast College offers 135 academic and career programs including more than 50 that contribute to Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees. Opened in 1948 and located just minutes from Southern California's beautiful beaches, the 164-acre Orange County Campus was upgraded with a 95,000-square-foot Language Arts and Social Behavioral Sciences building. Home to English, English as a Second Language, psychology, communications, world languages, journalism, economics and other classes, the three-story facility also features indoor and outdoor labs, a newsroom for the student newspaper, and faculty and administrative offices. The exterior finish of the building is Â鶹´«Ã½AV® Base Coat Stucco – Pump Grade applied as both scratch and brown coats to match the surrounding campus architecture. Mirage Builders applied 765,000 pounds of stucco over 3.4 metal lath finished with acrylic over crack reduction mesh and base for strength and protection. A silo system was used to mix and deliver the stucco consistently and efficiently on the job.
"It's a new, state-of-the-art facility. It really allows for students to engage in learning and have spaces where they can create a community," said Orange Coast College President Angelica Suarez. "It's a place where our faculty can engage in helping our students thrive and excel. Those are some of the exciting things that happen in a building of learning like this."
Â鶹´«Ã½AV® Base Coat Stucco – Pump Grade is a flowable, high workability plaster particularly designed for spray applications.
